Our Story
In 2009, when founder Jason Shockey was looking ahead to life after military retirement, he realized there were no career pathways that would lead him to the cyber career he wanted — Chief Information Security Officer.
With the plethora of sites out there selling certifications, degrees, and cybersecurity advice, the information could quickly become overwhelming — or worse, be unnecessary. As Jason worked his way up from cleaning bathrooms, to the help desk, to the highest in cybersecurity, he discovered four key areas of importance in securing any cybersecurity job — certifications, experience, training, and education. He also discovered his strong passion to help others get into the cybersecurity industry and level up throughout their careers. My Cyber Path is the result of that passion.
With thousands of career options and an astoundingly large number of unfilled cybersecurity positions available, My Cyber Path’s goal is to help individuals navigate through each of the learning areas in the most efficient way possible, securing employment with enjoyment, and helping our nation narrow the workforce gap.
About Jason
Prior to his CISO roles, Jason served 20 years active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps as a technology leader conducting cyberspace operations, incident response, and cyber risk management. Three of those years he served with the Cyber National Mission Force at Ft. Meade, MD.
